Al Mar Consulting participated in the key multistakeholder event of the Better Cotton Initiative in Uzbekistan
The gathering brought together representatives of government institutions, international organizations, cotton producers, textile clusters, the expert community, and civil society.
Al Mar Consulting was represented by its CEO, Maria Malinovskaya, who delivered a keynote presentation during the thematic session “Strengthening Social Safeguards: Social Responsibility in Cotton Supply Chains.”
In her speech, she emphasized the importance of international due diligence standards, a systematic approach to social responsibility, and the need for transparency in supply chains to ensure the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s cotton and textile sector.
The event featured the premiere of the documentary “Threads of Change: Voices from the Fields,” three thematic sessions, practical workshops, and a strategic dialogue on the future of the industry. The discussions highlighted:
-the introduction of regenerative agricultural practices,
-the strengthening of social safeguards and decent work,
-unlocking the economic potential of sustainable cotton in the global market.
At the conclusion of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding and a Roadmap were signed, outlining the next steps for advancing sustainable cotton production in Uzbekistan. The document was signed by the Agency for the Development of Light Industry, the Better Cotton Initiative, and the Council of Light Industry.
Al Mar Consulting will continue its work in promoting ESG approaches, strengthening social responsibility within supply chains, and supporting companies in Uzbekistan in integrating international standards.
